The Problem: A Business Analyst Who Couldn't Focus
I spent my days analyzing data, creating reports, and solving business problems. But I had one problem I couldn't solve: I couldn't focus for more than 10 minutes.
Every time I sat down to work on a complex analysis or write a detailed report, my phone would buzz. Instagram. Twitter. LinkedIn. TikTok. The cycle was endless. What should have taken 2 hours stretched into entire days because I kept getting distracted.
Sound familiar? If you're a student preparing for exams or a professional trying to get deep work done, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Phone addiction and constant distractions were killing my productivity.
I Tried Everything (And Nothing Worked)
Like most people struggling with focus, I tried the "obvious" solutions:
❌ Existing Pomodoro Timers
Boring interfaces. No motivation to continue. I'd use them for 2 days and forget about them.
❌ App Blockers
Too restrictive. I'd just uninstall them when I "needed" to check something urgent (spoiler: it was never urgent).
❌ Complex Productivity Systems
Notion templates, bullet journals, GTD systems — they all required so much setup that using them felt like work itself.
The problem wasn't the tools. The problem was that none of them were designed for how I actually work. I needed something that combined beautiful design, accountability, and progress tracking — without being overwhelming.
The Moment I Decided to Build My Own Solution
Here's the thing: I'm not a developer. I don't know how to code. My background is in business analysis, Excel spreadsheets, and SQL queries — not building web applications.
But I had a clear vision of what I needed:
- An aesthetic pomodoro timer that I'd actually enjoy using
- A leaderboard system to compete with others and stay accountable
- Streak tracking to build consistency
- Focus analytics to see my progress over time
- Beautiful design with lofi music and calming wallpapers
So I asked myself: "What if I could build this without learning to code?"
Building a Productivity App Without Coding
The no-code movement has made it possible for anyone — business analysts, designers, marketers, students — to build real products without writing code. I started researching tools and realized I could actually do this.
No-Code Tools
Used visual builders instead of writing code
Design First
Focused on beautiful, functional UI
User Feedback
Built based on real user needs
The process wasn't easy. I spent nights learning about databases, authentication, and user experience design. But because I was solving my own problem, every feature I built had a clear purpose.
The result? FocusFloo — a pomodoro timer for students and professionals that combines everything I wished other productivity apps had.
